Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alcester-Hudson). They put the hurt on Colman-Egan with a sharp 18-1 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cubs with their most commanding win of the season.
Emma Moller made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Moller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Alcester-Hudson let Jenna Manning and Paxtyn Moller run wild. Manning went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Moller went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Manning brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Miiller, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Oldham-Ramona/R's record now sits at 2-0. As for Alcester-Hudson, their record is now 3-1.
Oldham-Ramona/R suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Alcester-Hudson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Rutland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
