Recap: DeSoto Eagles vs. Southlake Carroll Dragons
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the DeSoto Eagles walked away with it. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 45-38 on Saturday. DeSoto's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Deondrae Riden jr. had a dynamite game for DeSoto, rushing for 254 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Riden jr. also notched 25+ carries for the first time this season. Darius Bailey was another key contributor, throwing for 189 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Riley Wormley, who rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Knowles, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Southlake Carroll, racking up 12 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Kyle Lemmermann: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.
DeSoto's victory bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Southlake Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 13-2.
DeSoto will take on Summer Creek in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at. One thing working in Summer Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches. Southlake Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
