Softball Game Preview: St. James Wildcats vs. Albany Hornets

The St. James Wildcats will take on the Albany Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. St. James has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 8th.

St. James came up short against Riverside Academy on Thursday, falling 11-1.

St. James saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyric Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Kennedy Peltier also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Albany's offense. They lost 15-0 to St. Thomas More on Saturday. The match marked the first time this year in which the Hornets were not able to get on the board.

Albany has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11-1 record this season. St. James' loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

St. James suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Albany when the teams last played back in March of 2018. Can St. James avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
