Softball Recap: South Mecklenburg Gets the Win

While South Mecklenburg's victory against Hopewell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The South Mecklenburg Sabres narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hopewell Titans 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sabres have posted since February 26th.

Sofia Vayo looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

On the hitting side, South Mecklenburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ashlynn Hall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Hall also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

South Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Hopewell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, South Mecklenburg will host Ardrey Kell at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Mecklenburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Hopewell, they will square off against West Charlotte at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Charlotte also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 11.2 runs per game.
