Softball Recap: Northside Gets the Win

While Northside's win against Hancock wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Eagles 12-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the match before.

Payton Phoxay was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jilliyn Yung, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Northside's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hancock, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Northside will face off against rival Taft at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Hancock is set to challenge their familiar foe Whitney Young at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
