Baseball Recap: Edinburg Takes a Loss

Edinburg and Harlingen squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Edinburg had to settle for second. They fell 5-0 to the Cardinals. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Bobcats who fell 4-2 when the teams previously met back in March.

Ryan Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

Edinburg's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Harlingen, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season.

Edinburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harlingen, they will challenge Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
