Byers faced Simla in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs claimed a resounding  52-6 victory over the Cubs. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five games by 32  points or more  so far this season.

Byers' win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   James Maes, who threw for 275 yards and three  touchdowns on only 19 passes. Those  275  passing yards gave  Maes a new career-high.  Caleb Eastwood did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 157  receiving yards.
 Byers didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  George Wyatt Earl and  Cristopher Papaianopol. Papaianopol also set a new season-high mark in  total tackles with six. He got in on the action too, converting a pick  into a touchdown.
The  win was  the third in a row for Byers, bringing their record up to 5-1. The  victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for Simla, they have  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record  this season.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Byers is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Elbert  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Simla will  challenge  rival St. Mary's  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
