Softball Game Preview: Neptune Scarlet Fliers vs. Lakewood Piners

The Neptune Scarlet Fliers will challenge the Lakewood Piners at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Neptune and 12 for Lakewood dating back to last season.

Neptune came up short against Point Pleasant Beach on Wednesday, falling 16-1.

Lakewood couldn't beat Long Branch on Wednesday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the third inning. The Piners lost 26-9 to the Green Wave.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Neptune, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11-1.

Everything went Neptune's way against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in April, as Neptune made off with a 16-0 win. Do the Scarlet Fliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Piners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
