East Valley Athletes for Christ hasn't had much luck against Heritage Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heroes at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Valley Athletes for Christ had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt Canyon State Academy on Thursday. The Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams a 20-0 shutout. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Asher Kellso made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

Micah Figueroa looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.
On the hitting side, Heritage Academy let Cristian Morgan and Conrad Reichard run wild. Morgan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Reichard went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Reichard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Snitker, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Valley Athletes for Christ, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Valley Athletes for Christ has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .490. However, it's not like Heritage Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .536. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Valley Athletes for Christ might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Heritage Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
