Baseball Recap: Brewster Academy National Takes a Loss

Brewster Academy National had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it five. They lost 12-0 to the New Hampton School Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 back in April.

As for New Hampton School, their win bumped their record up to 4-7-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For New Hampton School's part, Bodie Bartram was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. Bartram also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because New Hampton School is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-6-1 otherwise. Bartram was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, New Hampton School let Conor Griffin and Hayden Weeks run wild. Griffin went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Weeks went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave Griffin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Griffin Taylor, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.
