Volleyball Recap: Gaston Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gaston Christian entered their match against Davidson Day on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the Patriots. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Patriots when the teams met back in August of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gaston Christian was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Davidson Day work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15, 22-25, 27-25.

Bailey Knox paced Gaston Christian's offense, picking up ten kills. Knox got some help from Madelyn Pierce and her 17 assists. Piper Riley controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Among those leading the charge was Deanna Fiore, who had 15 assists and four digs.

Gaston Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Davidson Day, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7.

Looking ahead, Gaston Christian will be playing at home against Concord Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davidson Day, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Grace Christian on the 12th.
