Football Recap: Seabreeze Takes a Loss

Seabreeze lost against New Smyrna Beach back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Seabreeze Sandcrabs came up short against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas, falling 26-6. While losing is never fun, the Sandcrabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Barracudas are ranked 17th).

Rani Gupta threw for 67 yards and one touchdown while completing 81.8% of her passes. Camryn Chiumento was her top target, picking up 39 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Emma Corr was her usual excellent self, throwing for 178 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.2% of her passes, and also rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries for New Smyrna Beach. That's the most passing yards Corr has posted since back in March of 2024. Taylor Vance was Corr's top target, picking up 108 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Seabreeze has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. The win made it two in a row for New Smyrna Beach and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Looking ahead, Seabreeze will face off against Pine Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine Ridge's defense has only allowed 5.8 points per game this season, so Seabreeze's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for New Smyrna Beach, they will take on Spruce Creek on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Spruce Creek 1.7, New Smyrna Beach 4.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
