Basketball Recap: Hickory Flat Takes a Loss

On Saturday, the Hickory Flat Rebels came up short against the Calhoun Academy Cougars and fell 54-45. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Cougars are ranked 119th).

Hickory Flat has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Calhoun Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-8.

When Hickory Flat and Calhoun Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hickory Flat will try to stop Thrasher's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Calhoun Academy will challenge Independence and their four-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
