Softball Recap: Deer Isle-Stonington Takes a Loss

Deer Isle-Stonington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-4 to the Sumner Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Friday.

Leia Schultz put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Deer Isle-Stonington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sumner, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Tigers beat Deer Isle-Stonington by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday.
