Baseball Game Preview: New Berlin West Vikings vs. New Berlin Eisenhower Lions

New Berlin West and New Berlin Eisenhower are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Lions at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. New Berlin West is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

New Berlin West will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Waterford on Friday. The Vikings came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolverines, sneaking past 12-10. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jonah Kopischke made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Daniel Kibler was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of New Berlin West's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Elijah Gammage, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, New Berlin Eisenhower suffered their biggest defeat since May 11, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 8-2 to Germantown. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

New Berlin West now has a winning record of 10-9. As for New Berlin Eisenhower, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.

New Berlin West couldn't quite finish off New Berlin Eisenhower when the teams last played on Thursday and fell 2-0. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
