Softball Preview: Corona Panthers vs. Moreno Valley Vikings
The Corona Panthers will head out to square off against the Moreno Valley Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Corona's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Moreno Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Corona fell victim to Colony and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, everything went Moreno Valley's way against Cathedral City on Wednesday as Moreno Valley made off with a 14-3 victory.
Mia Licon was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sophia Miramontes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Moreno Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cathedral City only posted an OBP of .320.
Corona's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Moreno Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
