Basketball Game Preview: Water Valley Wildcats vs. Buena Vista Longhorns

The Water Valley Wildcats will head out to square off against the Buena Vista Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Water Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Menard 58-20. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buena Vista). They claimed a resounding 100-33 victory over Fort Davis. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Longhorns with their most commanding win of the season.

Buena Vista is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for Water Valley, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Water Valley took their victory against Buena Vista in their previous meeting back in December of 2019 by a conclusive 61-40. Will Water Valley repeat their success, or does Buena Vista have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
