Basketball Recap: Kallie Niemer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westmont over Ida Crown Jewish Academy

If Westmont was feeling good fresh off their 44-24 takedown of Holy Trinity last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westmont Sentinels received a blow on Thursday as they fell 62-48 to the Ida Crown Jewish Academy Aces. The Sentinels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Aces earlier this season, when they won 52-45.

Several Sentinels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kallie Niemer, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and three steals. Niemer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Danielle Hoover, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Westmont's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 19-11. As for Ida Crown Jewish Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Coming up, Westmont will face off against EPIC Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. EPIC Academy's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so Westmont's offense will have their work cut out for them. Ida Crown Jewish Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
