Recap: Westland Hialeah Wildcats vs. Hialeah-Miami Lakes Trojans
The Westland Hialeah Wildcats came tearing into Tuesday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 56-44 win over Hialeah-Miami Lakes. Given Westland Hialeah's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Trojans are ranked 758th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westland Hialeah's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Frank Sosa led the charge by scoring 30 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Sosa is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Trimmings, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Westland Hialeah pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Westland Hialeah will head out on the road to face off against the Thoroughbreds at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, they will take on the Wildcats at TBD on Tuesday.
