Basketball Recap: Meav Fouts' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lanier Christian Academy over Providence Christian Academy

If Lanier Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 57-17 takedown of Trinity Prep last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning lost 52-28 to the Providence Christian Academy Storm on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Storm are ranked 154th).

Lanier Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meav Fouts, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Ella Truong was her usual excellent self, going 8 of 15 en route to 21 points along with six boards and three steals for Providence Christian Academy. The game was Truong's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Zoie Cameron, who had 11 points.

Lanier Christian Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for Providence Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lanier Christian Academy has already played their next contest (against Fideles Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Providence Christian Academy will square off against Rabun County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Providence Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season.
