Baseball Game Preview: Desert Mirage RAMS vs. Cathedral City Lions

For the second straight game, Desert Mirage will face off against Cathedral City. The RAMS will challenge the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Desert Mirage is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Cathedral City get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the RAMS considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Alejandro Carmona made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Desert Mirage is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-7 otherwise. Carmona was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Angel Cruz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Desert Mirage is undefeated when Cruz posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Saul Medrano also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Desert Mirage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cathedral City's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Desert Mirage, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9.
