Clarke Central had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 57-36 margin over the Oconee County Warriors. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Gladiators just coasted through the last quarter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clarke Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrea Cox, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 19 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Collins, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Clarke Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oconee County only pulled down seven.

Despite the defeat, Oconee County had strong showings from Luke Bolding, who posted 12 points along with six boards and three steals, and Josh Matthews, who put up nine points.

Oconee County is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Clarke Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-55 loss against North Oconee on the 20th. As for Oconee County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 49-37 defeat against Madison County on the 20th.
