Football Game Preview: Gatewood Gators vs. Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors

The Gatewood Gators will face off against the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Gatewood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Heritage, posting a 47-13 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Gators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Southwest Georgia Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Southland Academy last Friday, taking the game 32-21. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Gatewood better keep an eye on Colt Williams. He was instrumental in Southwest Georgia Academy's win, rushing for 211 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Warriors' success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 6-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Southwest Georgia Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 310 rushing yards. They are 6-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Gatewood's record now sits at 4-7. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, their record is now 7-3.

Gatewood took a serious blow against Southwest Georgia Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 46-13. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
