Softball Game Preview: North Wilkes Vikings vs. Alleghany Trojans

The North Wilkes Vikings will venture away from home to take on the Alleghany Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

North Wilkes is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs last Friday, they were much more limited against West Wilkes on Friday. They came up short against the Blackhawks, falling 12-1.

Meanwhile, Alleghany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 17-0 to Starmount. The match marked the first time this year in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

North Wilkes now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Alleghany, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went North Wilkes' way against Alleghany in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as North Wilkes made off with a 14-1 win. Will North Wilkes repeat their success, or does Alleghany has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
