Basketball Recap: Calvary Baptist Academy Starts Season with Win Against Blair County Christian

Calvary Baptist Academy took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They strolled past the Blair County Christian Bobcats with points to spare, taking the game 37-20. For Calvary Baptist Academy, this counts as revenge for the 49-35 victory Blair County Christian walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Blair County Christian lost, don't look at Braxton Walter. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and three steals. Donovan Bickings also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Blair County Christian dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvary Baptist Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Westmoreland Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on February 10th. As for Blair County Christian, they will square off against Centre County Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
