Basketball Recap: Creede Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Creede and Fleming squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Creede had to settle for second. They were dealt a 57-11 loss at the hands of the Fleming Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 47th).

Ashley Bornhoft was a one-woman wrecking crew for Fleming as she made all 8 shots she took for 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Bornhoft a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Schaefer, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Creede has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. Fleming is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Creede does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fleming, they have already played their next contest, a 45-28 victory against Cheyenne Wells on the 8th.
