Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Fenwick Friars

St. Francis hasn't had much luck against Fenwick recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The St. Francis Spartans will square off against the Fenwick Friars at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Saturday, St. Francis came up short against DeKalb and fell 48-35. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Barbs are ranked 106th).

Fenwick has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-52 heartbreaker at the hands of Whitney Young. That's two games in a row now that the Friars have lost by exactly six points.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Fenwick, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.

St. Francis came up short against Fenwick in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 47-42. Can St. Francis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
