Basketball Recap: Madison County Takes a Loss

Madison County lost against Clarke County back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Madison County Mountaineers were dealt a 69-14 loss at the hands of the Clarke County Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Eagles are ranked 68th).

Madison County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gracie Woodward, who posted two points and ten boards.

Madison County has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Clarke County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Madison County is taking a road trip to face off against Rappahannock County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madison County is facing Rappahannock County at the right time seeing as Rappahannock County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Clarke County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stonewall Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarke County has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 210 points over their last three matchups.
