Basketball Recap: Stratford Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Stratford won the last time they faced Dekaney and things went their way on Friday too. The Stratford Spartans came out on top against the Dekaney Wildcats by a score of 33-22. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 496th, while the Wildcats are ranked 1214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sophia Collins and Maya Shotwell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Collins posted seven points, while Shotwell had 12 points. That was a full 54.5% of Dekaney's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Stratford pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.2 points per game. As for Dekaney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Stratford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-32 victory against Galena Park on the 28th. As for Dekaney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-25 defeat against Spring on the 3rd.
