Basketball Recap: Drew Charter Takes a Loss

Drew Charter was the 60-54 winner over KIPP Atlanta Collegiate when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Drew Charter took a 65-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Warriors on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Drew Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is ranked 79th).

KIPP Atlanta Collegiate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chane Bynum led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Bynum is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jayvon Johnson was another key player, putting up 16 points and eight assists.

Drew Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Drew Charter will host Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Drew Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. As for KIPP Atlanta Collegiate, they will welcome Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. KIPP Atlanta Collegiate is facing Washington at the right time seeing as Washington is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
