Basketball Recap: Durham School of the Arts Takes a Loss

Durham School of the Arts played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the South Granville Vikings, falling 74-45. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Vikings are ranked 126th).

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Craig Griffin, who posted 11 points and three steals. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Roberts, who scored four points and three steals.

South Granville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Brown, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Those 20 boards gave Brown a new career-high. KJ Terry was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine assists.

Durham School of the Arts dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for South Granville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Durham School of the Arts has already played their next contest, a 71-65 victory against Granville Central on the 28th. As for South Granville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 88-44 win against Vance County on the 28th.
