Baseball Recap: Preston Find Success

Preston won the last time they faced North Marion and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 6-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Ayden Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Wyatt Moyer and Bryson McNew did most of the damage at the plate: Moyer scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while McNew scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Moyer is becoming a predictor of Preston's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Caleb Wharton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Preston's record is now 4-2. As for North Marion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Preston is set to face off against their familiar foe Fairmont Senior at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, North Marion will square off against rival Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
