Barlow has gone 9-1 against Gresham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bruins will square off against the Gophers at 5:00 p.m. Barlow's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Gresham's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Barlow blew Nelson out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Nelson got their revenge. The Bruins fell just short of Nelson by a score of 5-3. The Bruins' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Kaylee Pokorny 2025 was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Barlow saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evie West 2025, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Gresham came out on top against Sandy on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Gophers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 10-0 shutout. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Keira Downing's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on La Terra Foster-Frison, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Daya Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Gresham has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Barlow, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Barlow hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Gresham struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Barlow took their victory against Gresham when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
