Baseball Recap: Springfield Longhorns vs. Stanton County Trojans

Springfield lost against Stanton County on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Springfield Longhorns fell just short of the Stanton County Trojans by a score of 5-3. Springfield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gunner Mackey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (he also only allowed one walk). Mackey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Mackey is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's stolen at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Mackey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gunnar Mort, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

On Stanton County's side, Alvin Solis was excellent, going 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Stanton County, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Springfield will stay at home for another game and welcome McClave at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. McClave will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Stanton County, they are on the road again on Tuesday to play Sublette at 4:00 p.m.
