Baseball Recap: Oakridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Illinois Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oakridge). They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Illinois Valley Cougars on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maxwell Maher was excellent, going 4-for-5 with three runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Oakridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jasper Spoon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Oakridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oakridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Illinois Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakridge will head out to take on Camas Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Illinois Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Oakland at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
