Basketball Recap: Baya Jimenez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bonneville over Viewmont

Bonneville lost against Viewmont back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bonneville Lakers took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Viewmont Vikings. The Lakers were down 42-19 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Bonneville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Baya Jimenez, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 14 points along with five boards and three steals. Jimenez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ema Eskelsen, who posted six points and nine rebounds.

It was another big night for Mara Mickelson, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points and five boards for Viewmont. Mary Carr was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Bonneville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Viewmont, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Bonneville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-51 defeat against Northridge on the 22nd. Viewmont has also already played their next matchup, a 41-36 loss against Clearfield on the 22nd.
