Baseball Recap: St. Michael-Albertville Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

St. Michael-Albertville waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Elk River Elks. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Elks on their field since June 8, 2021.

Wes Byer looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ashton Crank was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

St. Michael-Albertville's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Elk River, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Coming up, St. Michael-Albertville will head out to face off against Edina at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elk River, they will host Spring Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
