Volleyball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Pickerington North Panthers, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Newark took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-8, 25-16.

Pickerington North was led to victory by Gavin Venetta and Jordan Dyer. Venetta had 11 digs and one assist, while Dyer hit 83.3% for ten kills and eight aces and one block. Dyer has been hot for a while, having posted seven or more kills the last 26 times he's played.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Pickerington North, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-1.

Looking ahead, Newark will be playing at home against West at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pickerington North will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' matchup: after the Wildcats faces off against the Cowboys, they'll take on Pickerington North again at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
