Baseball Recap: Northridge Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northridge was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the North Union Wildcats 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 13, 2024.

Collin Matheson made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Northridge: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-12 otherwise. Matheson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Reeves, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Brice Beaver was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Northridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Union only managed five hits.
