Baseball Recap: Manvel Find Success

Manvel and Dobie pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played Dobie, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Mavericks came out on top in a nail-biter against the Longhorns, sneaking past 3-1. This was a revenge game for the Mavericks: when they faced off against the Longhorns on Tuesday, they had to take a 15-5 defeat.

Jesus Merlo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manvel is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Manvel's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Tuiasosopo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Tuiasosopo has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

With the victory, Manvel broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-12. As for Dobie, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-12.

As of now, neither Manvel nor the Longhorns have any future games scheduled.
