Basketball Recap: Bailey Amerson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Upstate over West-Oak + How To Watch

Upstate saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 47-40 to the West-Oak Warriors. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Upstate lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bailey Amerson, who posted nine points and six steals. She has become a key player for Upstate: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Annie Hendley was another key player, putting up eight points.

West-Oak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kinady Marcengill out in front who had 12 points and five boards. Marcengill has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashton Sosby, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Upstate's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for West-Oak, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Upstate and West-Oak should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings. The Falcons will square off against Southside at 11:00 a.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (117 vs. 252). Meanwhile, West-Oak (ranked 48th) will meet Greer (ranked 163rd) at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
