Basketball Recap: Wyler Fisher's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Morrill over Bridgeport

Morrill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 54-41 to the Bridgeport Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-37 two weeks ago.

Morrill lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Wyler Fisher, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 15 points. That was a full 36.6% of Morrill's points, marking the fourth time in a row Fisher has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashwin Pittman, who had 17 points.

Gage Nein had a dynamite game for Bridgeport, going 5-for-7 to rack up 18 points and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Nein a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (83%). Hayes Watts was another key player, putting up nine points.

Morrill's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Bridgeport, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Morrill and Niobrara County will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Niobrara County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Morrill surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bridgeport, they will square off against Mitchell at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
