Basketball Recap: Gavin Varner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lehigh Valley Academy over Lincoln Leadership Academy

Lehigh Valley Academy lost against Lincoln Leadership Academy two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Lehigh Valley Academy Jaguars came up short against the Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions, falling 69-46. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 650th, while the Lions are ranked 171st).

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Varner, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Varner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Omar Hurt, who had 12 points.

Lehigh Valley Academy dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lehigh Valley Academy will welcome Pen Argyl at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincoln Leadership Academy, they will face off against Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
