Football Recap: Cayden Jenkins Leads Skyline's Defense on Friday + How To Watch

Skyline took a 45-point loss the last time they faced off against Central Woodstock, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 victory over the Falcons on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted against the Falcons since August 28, 2015.

Zayden Burks had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 294 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Marques Lockhart was another key player, picking up 75 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skyline was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 337 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Skyline didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cayden Jenkins, Silas Wilson, and Dayshawn Haley picked up one apiece. Skyline received some extra help from Andre Ford, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Defeat or not, Central Woodstock got some senior leadership from Sean Stead and Noah Moss. Stead rushed for 138 yards and two TDs, while Moss threw for 214 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes. The Falcons also got a significant boost from Chris Brown, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

Skyline's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Central Woodstock, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Skyline will take on Fauquier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Central Woodstock, they will face off against Clarke County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Falcons their first taste of in-conference action this season.
