Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool vs. NELA Christian Homeschool Flame

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool will face off against the NELA Christian Homeschool Flame at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool earned a 60-48 victory over John Paul the Great Academy. Given Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while John Paul the Great Academy is ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool can attribute much of their success to Nicholas Savage, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Scott Stollstiemer, who posted 22 points and four steals. Those 13 boards gave Savage a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Brown, who earned eight points along with nine assists and five steals.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Paul the Great Academy only posted four assists.

Meanwhile, NELA Christian Homeschool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Christian Home Educators Fellowship 71-34.

NELA Christian Homeschool's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-7.

Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool took their victory against NELA Christian Homeschool when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 72-48.
