Basketball Recap: Monterey Gets the Win

Monterey won the last time they faced Watertown, and Vinnie Walker did his part to make sure it happened again. The Monterey Wildcats strolled past the Watertown Purple Tigers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 46-31 thanks in part to Walker, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points and eight boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Brayden Reams, who scored eight points. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games he's played.

Monterey's victory bumped their record up to 7-18. As for Watertown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monterey will square off against York Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Watertown, they will head out on the road to challenge Smith County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
