Basketball Recap: Upstate Takes a Loss

Upstate played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Southside Christian Sabres an easy 59-38 win. The Falcons were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Upstate lost, don't look at Annie Hendley. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Hendley is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Claire Erkens was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Upstate's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Southside Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Upstate has already played their next contest, a 47-40 defeat against West-Oak on the 20th. As for Southside Christian, after both having extra time off, they and Brashier Middle College Charter will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
