Baseball Game Preview: Pulaski County Maroons vs. Casey County Rebels

For the second straight game, Pulaski County will face off against Casey County. The Maroons will take on the Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pulaski County has five straight victories, Casey County has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Pulaski County made easy work of Casey County and carried off a 9-2 win. Considering the Maroons have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Dawson Branscum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chase Farmer and Ben Gaskin did most of the damage at the plate: Farmer went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gaskin went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Gaskin has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kade Hargis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Pulaski County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March.

Pulaski County's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Casey County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
