Volleyball Recap: Hurricane Redskins vs. Wayne Pioneers
Hurricane was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of the Wayne Pioneers by a score of 2-1. The Redskins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Hurricane sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-27, 15-12.
Wayne can attribute much of their success to Courtney Thompson, who had 12 digs. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Hurricane's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Wayne, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-12-3 record.
Hurricane wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Huntington on the 10th. As for Wayne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Nicholas County on the 12th.
