Softball Game Preview: Wilmington Hurricane vs. Ross Rams

The Wilmington Hurricane will head out to challenge the Ross Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Saturday, Wilmington didn't have quite enough to beat Valley View and fell 8-7. The Hurricane have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Ross entered their tilt with Ursuline Academy on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Baker made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Meadow Webb was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Kam Commins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Wilmington now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Ross, their record is now 18-5.
